KANIN

Rising steep from the windy Soca river, the Kanin mountains clearly define Slovenia’s border with Italy. Rough limestone, high peaks and deep caves make great terrain for climbers, hikers, alpine skiers, mountainbikers, paragliders and speleologists. Historians can find remnants of the First World War. Geologists can study fossils. Some farmers take their goats up. Wildlife include chamois, big horn goat, marmot, eagle, vulture. Kanin is the Wild West of Bovec.
